Job Title: Certified Exceptional Student Educator

Location: Lansing, Michigan

Hours: 37.5 hours per week


Job Description: We are currently seeking a Certified Exceptional Student Educator to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. As an Exceptional Student Educator, you will work with students who have diverse learning needs and abilities, providing them with the support and resources necessary to succeed academically and socially. Your role will involve collaborating with other educators, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.


Job Duties:

  1. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities.
  2. Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning disorders, or behavioral challenges.
  3. Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of exceptional students in inclusive settings.
  4. Assess students’ progress and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure academic growth and development.
  5. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
  6. Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on students’ progress and address concerns.
  7. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and inclusion.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  2. Differentiate instruction to accommodate students’ diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs.
  3. Implement behavioral interventions and supports as needed to promote positive behavior and social-emotional development.
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to support students’ overall growth and development.
  5. Stay informed about federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to special education and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
  6. Advocate for the needs of exceptional students and promote inclusive practices within the school community.
