As the SPED Teacher, you will work in a collaborative and innovative setting, delivering individualized instruction to preschool-aged children with developmental delays and disabilities. You will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that fosters growth and achievement for all students.
The ideal candidate will develop and implement individualized instructional plans to address each child’s unique needs while fostering a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Leveraging effective behavior management strategies, you will promote positive interactions and a productive learning atmosphere. Your responsibilities include providing direct instruction in both individual and small-group settings, assessing student progress regularly, and adapting teaching strategies to meet IEP goals. Collaboration with families, therapists, and other educators is essential to support holistic development, and you will utilize play-based, developmentally appropriate practices to nurture cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth in young learners.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Hold an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement.
